Let's work together to support the unique needs of the children and families in our care!
My heart for foster care and adoption was instilled by my parents. They shared stories of the many children in our home over their twenty years as foster parents. I am blessed to be adopted into my family from infant foster care. As my husband and I began to start our own family opening our home to foster care and adoption felt like the path to follow. We journeyed into classes, home studies, and interviews.
December 19, 2000 we entered into the broken and beautiful as we welcomed two little ones into our home. Together we journeyed farther into the unknown of developmental pediatricians, sensory processing, IEPs, adaptive preschool, therapeutic playgroups, and more. I had a basic understanding of the special education process by working in early childhood education but I was overwhelmed! Thankfully I had a Mother in-law who knew the right people and a church family that loved us well.
I love our family. Every smile and tear has had a purpose. I love our adventures. Our journey keeps going and growing. I would love to hear about your journey and support you along your way.
I have a passion for serving ALL families. I started my career teaching preschool in NJ. My first job in Arizona was in a public developmental preschool. I continued as a paraprofessional moving into a high needs classroom and self contained autism classroom.
I taught resource special education after graduation from Grand Canyon University. I am currently a special education achievement advisor. I'm married to a special education teacher; and together we serve in disability ministry. I have led workshops throughout Arizona at area churches and children's ministry conferences on topics such as autism, positive behavior, and inclusion.
Free Consultation
Do you need someone to listen? My first meeting at the IEP table was overwhelming. Honestly, as a foster parent I did not know my place. I didn't know what all the acronyms meant or what to bring to a meeting. Can you relate? Let's set up 30 minutes together so you can share your top 3 concerns.
IEP Review
Do you need someone to look over your child's IEP and help you understand what it all means? We will walk through the IEP together so you feel prepared at the next meeting. Let's book an IEP review and 3 hours of support.
Speaker Request
Do you need some IEP or special education training for your group? How about some encouragement for your overwhelmed foster/adoption parents? Let's book a virtual or in person training, hands on workshop, or event.
